January 26, participation in a National Alliance of Artists at HBCU’s group show at Alabama State University. The exhibit Honors Black Women February 2, Solo exhibit at Heritage Hall Museum, Talladega: presented with the key to the City by the City Council President and the City Manager the at the reception February 17, provided art for private showing at annual dinner hosted by Jerome Gray retired field secretary for the Alabama Democratic Conference February 20, solo exhibit at Huntingdon College, including dinner with President Cameron West, faculty and students in his office—followed by a reception and the exhibit in the Seay Twins Gallery on the Huntingdon Campus. Two Bacon by drawings, among others, will be featured in a soon to be published textbook authored by the NAAHBCU’s. The Book will also contain images of the murals of some of the HBCU’s Black traditions from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean are honored and creatively channeled in “Creative Movements,” a richly varied group show at the Delta Arts Center.
Represented in the show are 26 artists whose ostensible common denominator is membership in the National Alliance of Artists from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Aside from that, their works reveal a number of common concerns and points of emphasis, most prominently a strong focus on black culture. With musical support from the Black Monks of Mississippi, new stories from the north and old stories from the east, and nearly audible fragments from the eternal.
